It appeared that the feature event in the Rod Eddleblute's Garage
Super Late Models was going to be a replay from the week before as Rick
Bond and Charlie Duncan ran nose to tail for just about all the laps.Bond
had earned the pole spot and Duncan lined up in third place. At the drop of
the green,Bond showed the way with Brad Moore tucked in very close behind
the leader and Duncan showed in third.Bond did not have a chance to put any
distance between Moore and himself due to a caution flag which bunched them
back together.Moore continued his pursuit of Bond until lap nineteen when he
got crossed up and was charged with the caution. After the resart,Duncan moved
in on the back bumper of the leader and continued to pressure Bond.Several side
by side battles insued back in the pack as Dave Hornikel and Corey Conley was moving
up.Another close race was displayed between Mike Lonas and Travis Mensching.Bond
went to take the win as Duncan sailed home second,Conley took third,Hornikel was
fourth and Lonas gathering in fifth place.Duncan,Conley and Hornikel won the three
heats.
Last week,Tanner Wilson made a great late race run but had to settle for a third
place finish in the Tri State Modifieds but he was keyed into winning his first
feature event. When the green weas displayed,Rory Reed went to the point and appeared
to be headed to a win.Wilson worked from his third place starting spot and had moved
in behind the leader. On lap ten is when he made his move off of turn two to take the
lead. The lead was short lived as Reed battled back and moved up beside Wilson and they
swapped the lead on four different occassions.Kevin Morehouse was also in the hunt as
he moved up on the back bumper of Reed.Wilson was first to the checkered flag in his
Lucas Oil entry with Reed second,Morehouse third,Hilton Eppley fourth and Tom Bruck
taking fifth.Reed and Morehouse were the two heat winners.
Brandon Gardner made his first trip to Lakeville this year a good one as he took
the win in the America's Best Siding Pure Stocks.Johnny Moore led the first six laps until
Gardner moved to the outside off of turn one and the two talented drivers raced door to door.
Gardner led the rest of the way in his Massillon Transmission sponsored #27.Bob Daugherty
raced to a runner up spot from starting seventh and Josh Miller came from fifth to secure
third place.Last weeks winner Todd Swim came from sixth to take fourth and Justin Patterson
charged back from an early spinout and had to restart in fourteenth place and got back to fifth.
Moore and Patterson won the two heats.
Jordan James made it two in a row in the Atom's Pest Control 4 Cylinder Bombers. It was a
complete race battle as Bobby Stamper and Brad Hensel kept pressure on the leader.Dustin Cyrus
became a player late in the race as did Kevin Stamper. No one had enough to take it away from
James as he sailed to th win with B.Stamper second,Hensel third,Cyrus fourth and K.Stamper fifth.
Two heats were contested with Kevin Stamper and Tim Jenson taking the wins.
Steve Foley got his second career and first this year win in the Lake Wappason Classic
Cruisers as he bested Jim Gerbasi,Pauley Hess,Glenn Elliott and Sonny Flannery.
Lakeville Speedway will be back in action on Friday night May 27th. with all five racing division
