CONLEY STOPS DUNCAN'S STREAK AT LAKEVILLE SPEEDWAY
Date: Sunday, August 28 @ 18:57:06 CDT Topic: Results
Cory Conley from West Virginia made a quick stop at Lakeville Speedway on Friday night and also stopped Charlie Duncan's streak in the Late Model division.Conley had won two features last year at the Holmes County racetrack and ran away with not only the first place money but also the additional $280.00 bounty that had been placed on Duncan due to his winning nine out of the ten features he had entererd this year.
Conley looked very strong in the heat race as he dominated it and it gave him a vision of where on the track he would run the feature event. The redraw was in his favor as he had earned the outside of the front row as his starting spot with Ryan Markham on the pole. The drop of the green flag was what he was waiting for as he was the first to turn one and never looked back.He went the distance as the leader as several yellow flags bunched them back up and every time he drove away from the field on every restart. No one had anything for the Jones Oil flyer and at times led by a full straightaway distance.Markham finished in second place,Wayne Maffett jr was third,Mike Lonas took fourth and Duncan grabbed fifth.Kevin Wright was the other heat winner.
Bob Daugherty will continue to lead the points in the Pure Stock division as he bested a strong field of entries over runner up Jeremy Dickerson.Josh Miller stayed within striking distance of Daugherty in the chase to the championship as he finished third and is only six points behind the leader.Denny Shear also stayed in the top five of the points battle as he drove to a fourth place finish and Eddie Rose hung onto fifth. Dickerson and Shear put together the two heat wins.
Three heat races were contested in the 4 Cylinder Bombers with Bobby Stamper,Doug Hensel and Jordan James taking the wins. Those three veterans could not gather in Chris Priebe as he won his very first career feature as Stamper,Michael Rose, James and Kevin Markey rounded out the top five finishers. The points championship is still up for grabs as the top four are within a handfull of markers to win the title as the season is coming to an end.
Steve Foley recorded another win in the Classic Cruisers and is heading for a second championship season as he beat Pauly Hess,Sonny Flannery,Kayla Graber and Lacy Shaw.Hess and Andrew Myers were the two heat winners.
Lakeville Speedway will be back in action on Friday night September 2nd.with the Modifieds returning with the running of the 25 lap Modified Madness paying $700.00 to win.On the docket will be Pure Stocks,Cruisers,4 Cylinder Bombers and an added treat to the program will be The Modified Lites.Late Models will have the evening off.
