Pre-Season Updates
Posted by Bob on Thursday, June 14 @ 11:25:13 CDT (2746 reads)
Information Listed below are some of the pre-season updates that were previously posted here at the top of the page. They are being posted here as a reminder of some of the changes made for 2012.

**************Update From 6/8/2012***************

Here's the latest updates from our meeting on 6/7/2012:

Pure Stocks: Now allowed 4bbl. carbs and Bert/Brinn style transmissions.

Cruisers: V6 FWD cars are now invited to join this division. They must pass the roller test the same as the Mini Stocks. All Cruisers must run stock type steel wheels and pass vacuum gauge test (18 inches @700 rpm). Stock air cleaners/air boxes and are mandatory on all Cruisers. Automatic transmissions only in all Cruisers.

Modifieds: We are staying with the same TSMA style rules but TSMA membership is NOT required and TSMA points will not be awarded.

Mini Stocks: Stock FWD type steel wheels only. No offset wheels. Roller and vacuum gauge will be enforced.

**Any questions about rules are to be directed to Charlie Vansickle or Randy Young. Their phone numbers are listed on our "Contact Info" page of this site.

Lakeville Speedway Salutes Dave Haven Sr.
Posted by Bob on Thursday, September 15 @ 21:30:56 CDT (2858 reads)
Information
My racing weekend kicked off with a huge and pleasant surprise. As I was walking into the pits at Lakeville I spotted the Super 6 car headed towards the tech area with none other than Dave Haven Sr. behind the wheel. You might recall that Dave has been suffering from health issues for some time and the last time I saw him was late July. It was tough to see such a historic racer looking so weak but he went out of his way to shoot the shit with me which meant alot to me. At that point I figured we probably wouldn't see the old timer strapped into a race car again but hoped to see him in the pits again soon. Well, I must have underestimated this stubborn old fella because there he was Friday night strapped in and ready for action. I figured it was only right to do something special for him to show the appreciation from the entire racing community for such a determined racer. At intermission Dave wheeled his ride onto the front stretch to be honored by all of those in attendance. By this point of the evening Dave had already run his heat race and made it clear that he would be running the feature too. The crowd responded with a loud and long standing ovation. It's not often you get to honor a guy with 48 years of racing experience under his belt, and this will be a moment to remember forever. I'm very grateful that I could be a part of it. They just don't make racers like him any more for sure. Even with his health problems he ignored the incredible temperatures just to get back out there and do what he loves. RACE! And race he did, bringing the Super 6 car home in 7th place when the checkers flew in the feature. Damn it was good to hear that big ass Mopar engine roar by again. Thanks Dave for making my entire weekend one to remember and for all those years you've dedicated to racing. I salute you, Lakeville Speedway salutes you, and racers as well as race fans that recognize your dedication to racing salute you. We all salute you sir!

Back To Racing Friday August 19th
Posted by Bob on Sunday, August 14 @ 16:46:29 CDT (2560 reads)
Information
Randy Young and all of Lakeville Speedway would like to thank those loyal racers and fans that have supported us through the reorganization process we're currently undergoing. This will be an ongoing process but we know you want to get back to racing at Lakeville (and we do too!) so we'll be back in action this Friday night August 19th with a few changes to our program. Modifieds will not be running this Friday but we're working hard to put them back on the schedule very soon and TSMA membership will be optional at that time. That means Modifieds will no longer need to belong to TSMA to run at Lakeville Speedway (but members will aquire TSMA points) when they return. Payouts have been adjusted for now and are posted below. Grandstand pricing has also been adjusted a bit. Adult tickets are still just $10 but now those 12 and under will get in free.

There will also be a special ticket given to any adult buying a grandstand admission You will want to collect these special tickets and keep them until the Blowout weekend. On Friday night at the Blowout along with the traditional hog roast and party, there will be a 42" flat screen TV given to one lucky special ticket holder. You will be able to collect these tickets each week right up to the Blowout weekend. While times may be tough in the racing world right now, with your support we can do anything. We're still working on other plans to improve our program and your support will be what makes the difference. We hope to see all of you at Lakeville Speedway each week and we promise that your support will be rewarded.

Payouts Beginning August 19th
Super Late Models: $800,$550,$450,$300,$250,$225,$175,$165,$140,$130,$110, 12th-18th place = $100
